As you grow, you will likely need additional space outside of Atlas. Planning for this early will make the transition much smoother. Here you will find the Competitive Process Timeline to help in your initial planning process.
Part of your planning will be figuring out just how much space and what kind of space you'll need. (Percentage of office vs. lab) If you will have a lab component of your new home, you'll want to start to fill in the equipment matrix as you decide what your lab needs will be. Many of the Atlas companies choose to take shorter term leases with biotech incubators in the area. There are many reasons for doing this including but not limited to, smaller up front costs, turnkey solutions, shared capabilities, limited financial liability, etc. See a sample cost analysis of incubator vs. direct space here.
Another very important factor for your new space will be location. Kendall Sq./East Cambridge used to be the gold standard in biotech space. Due to recent factors like, cost, low inventory, traffic, parking, etc. we've seen some biotechs migrate to other areas of Massachusetts. These new biotech clusters are located in Waltham, Watertown, the Seaport, Alewife, etc.

There are 4 different sample size options, so if your looking for 7,000 sq/ft, 20,000 sq/ft or somewhere in between you'll be able to compare the locations to pin down what might be right for from a financial standpoint.
